I really like Halloween, and yes the candy and treats that go with with it. I am not a believer in total deprivation b/c that will eventually lead to a binge. So here are some ways to enjoy Halloween in moderation:
1. Sort out only the good stuff! Pick the candy you like the most and get rid of everything else. When your blood sugar gets low about 3:00 even those little gummy hamburgers (ewww!) look enticing.
2. Set a daily limit. This is a great idea for the kids too who possess no guilt when it some to candy consumption. Put a few pieces in a snack size ziploc and limit it to that for the day. This way “grazing” the candy bowl throughout the day isn’t a problem.
3. Put that candy bucket out of sight! Who could resist a bucket of candy staring at them all day?
4. Give it to your dentist! My dentist has a program where you can donate Halloween candy and they send it to the troops. Great idea I think!
So those are a few of my tips fordealing with the onslaught of candy this time of year. Happy Halloween!
Excellent tips! And I have never thought of asking my Dentist if they have a program for leftover candy. What a great idea!
